Chimney and Tempest

Dragon Hoe!

It is a spring evening when Chimney and Tempest arrive in Yarley. Chaerumyn plays his set at the Stubborn Mule while all make jolly around. Tempest is stalking her prey, looking for an easy target. She spots a large dragonborn across the bar. He is enebriated from drinking after his time at sea.

Hyrum the bartender, busy as always, serves rounds at the bar. Mycena and Penny hover, observing the events around them. Charm begins his song with a dedication.

“This one goes out to my friend with the righteous mane.” He gestures to Chimney. Chimney holds a glass up in response.

Charm continues his set while Chimney harasses Hyrum for another drink. “Whiskey, on the rocks” he requests.

Hyrum, puzzlingly says, “ah, so with ice?” Chimney nods. Hyrum begrudgingly makes his way to the ice cellar to break another ice block.

He returns and pours Chimney a glass. “Keep it coming.” Chimney gestures at his glass.

Hyrum goes in for another pour. When he finishes, he responds “that will be two silver.” Chimney hands over the coin.

As Charm finishes his set, he approaches the bar. Chimney buys him a drink. While they converse, Tempest interjects - “Another round for these fine fellows!”

Hyrum quietly pours them. “Two silver” he says. Tempest surrenders the coin. She begins her usual ritual, casting her line with complimentive words. Commenting on their statures. Chimney takes the bait. She reels him in, hook line and sinker. Charm warns Chimney to watch himself, and returns to his set.

The sailors with which Chimney sailed into town make their way through the bar with a ruckus. They have clearly been drinking. As they make their way out, they raise a toast to being in port once again. Chimney joins in on the toast. The sailors disappear into the street to bother other souls.

Along the bar, our other adventurers observe in fascination, overhearing the conversation as Tempest works her magic on Chimney. Their conversation ends with a purchase of a room from Hyrum, who says “up the stairs, second door on the left.” They leave together up the stairs, quite the odd couple.

The remaining patrons slowly filter out as the night wears on. As the hour approaches midnight, Charm ends his set and the remaining patrons head home for the night. Charm slips into his golden pajamas. Hyrum offers Penny and Mycena a room together, to which Mycena agrees begrudgingly.

Vales of the Unwed

Everyone in town hears a blood-curling scream. Charm rushes downstairs to see what has happened. He spots Hyrum at the bar and inquires. “The sailors have gone missing” says Hyrum exasperated.

Tempest, caring less about the scream and more about her catch, makes her way to Chimney’s belongings. She spots his purse and rummages through it. She finds 38 gold coins. She has taken a strange liking to Chimney and elects not to take all of his coin. She takes 10 gold and places it in her purse. She makes her way downstairs and is met by Hyrum and Charm. She joins for breakfast and decides to go back to her room where Chimney remains, sleeping like a rock. She shakes him awake.

“Huh?” Chimney queries, confused. She tells him that the sailors have disappeared. Chimney rolls over, unbotheredly attempting to sleep off his hangover. Tempest shakes him again. Chimney wakes up this time, his head pounding like war drums. They make their way downstairs for breakfast.

It is still early morning, but the commotion around the Stubborn Mule has awoken Penny and Mycena. As Charm leasurely breakfasts and prepares for the day ahead, our other adventurers make their appearances from their rooms.

Once all have descended the stairs, and Hyrum has served breakfast to all, he begins “I regret that I must request another favor of you, Mycena, Penny, and Charm. The sailors from last night have disappeared, and I fear the worst. They were spotted by some locals heading into the Vale. Not many venture there, but those who do do not often return. I must request that you seek them out. If found, I will pay each of you 10 gold. You two may be needed as well.” He gestures to Chimney and Tempest.

After some discussion, they agree to go after the sailors. The party enters the Vale.
